Gelcoat is a gel-type thermoset liquid paint made by adding pigment and thixotropic agent to unsaturated polyester resin. Giving the gelcoat strong mechanical, electronic, waterproof, weatherable, oil-resistant, and acid-resistant properties.

Gelcoat can be referred to as a colored thixotropic product developed for FRP and marble topcoats and thus can be used for surface coatings such as bathtubs, water tanks, ships, and septic tanks.
